“Under the Pink is this world. Everybody’s pink inside. If we tore all our skin off, we’re all pink. It’s what’s within that interests me.” -Tori Amos, Schwann Spectrum, Spring 1994.

i took you for granted, VHS. i took you for granted..
i think we have a youngster over here…
Actually what’s recorded kinda starts erasing over the years…
joni tagged me, so why not?
1. How are you doing?
all in all, i’m doing well, thank you!
2. What is your favorite book and why?
i don’t know if i have just one - dandelion wine by ray bradbury is my favourite summer book (i read it at least twice b/w june and end of sept) - it’s beautifully written and nostalgic; i really do love anything by jd salinger (esp nine stories) and stephen king (rose madder most of all) … then there’s the poets, primarily ee cummings. i really love cummings because he’s so abstractly, yet still overtly, sensual.
3. What is your favorite song and why?
i’ll actually give a single answer to this one - beethoven’s moonlight sonata. i remember learning to play it on the piano, ages ago, and just playing it over and over for hours. there’s just something about it that resonates in my bones, i swear.
4. What angers you the most?
being disappointed … when people don’t meet my expectations, or are just lousy in general (especially in a work environment). i hate the thought of accepting that hey, maybe people really ARE that lazy, or inconsiderate, or thoughtless - and i refuse to lower my standards to avoid disappointment because i’m stubborn.
5. Do you prefer summer or winter?
up here, i prefer summer. it rarely gets above 80F, there is so much glorious sunlight, and i’m happier. the winter isn’t terrible, don’t get me wrong, because SOUP! but it gets insanely windy, and i hate cold wind & windy rain. both exist in ample amounts from october/november through to april.
6. What is your earliest memory?
i’m not sure if it’s the earliest, but the clearest memory i have of being little is playing indoors, alone, during recess, in kindergarden - i had really REALLY bad allergies and couldn’t go outside to play with the other kids (i also got allergy shots twice a week, ugh) so i’d play with legos or read books. the teachers thought i was responsible enough to be left alone for a half hour & apparently i was. didn’t burn the school down or anything.
7. Where do you live? (and name the thing you love most about where you live)
i live in northwestern washington state, halfway between seattle wa & vancouver bc, canada. what do i love *most* about being here? this town is adorable and wonderful. around 15,000 people, amazing food and beer, great hiking, beaches, forests … so, pretty much, everything.
8. Finish: Dear 16yo me,
please don’t be so trusting of other people
9. What is your goal in life?
to not be an asshole. it’s how steve helps keep me in check! when i start being mean/rude/shitty, he says “hey, don’t be an asshole” and i’ll say “damn, dude, you’re right” or “that wasn’t being an asshole” and it makes each day a learning experience.
10. Is your muffin buttered?
nope, it’s always jelly or jam!
i’m breaking the rules and not tagging anyone else because most everyone else has already done it >.<
such a looooooooooooooooooooong tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-eeeeeeyiiime
i have this thought more than i would like:
oh, you silly fuck of a person - if you’re going to try to insult someone, at least have proper noun/verb agreements
twice today, and it’s not even 2pm here
The captions make this gif so much better.
